Falling in Love with Spain.......and Tio Pepe

I spent time in Seville, Jerez, and Madrid and it was simply beautiful. Although it seems I picked the absolute coldest time to go, we even saw snow flurries in Madrid, it was more AMAZING than anything I ever could have imagined.

Life had some crazy twist and turns this month and for some reason I struggled to write my Spain post, so I’m going to keep it short and share my experiences through images. February for me was a month that reminded me to celebrate the love that we experience in life and to live each moment as beautifully and fully as we can. I took this trip to Spain with my family and it made my experience different, beautiful, and loving in its own right.

Because February was a month of love and we were celebrating love all month long, it made the ability to travel to Tio Pepe in Spain with my family even more special. Tio Pepe is a fino sherry produced by the famous Spanish Brand Gonzalez Byass. It’s enduring name, Tio Pepe or Uncle Pepe (in English), whose real name was Jose Maria Angel y Vargas was the maternal uncle of Manuel Maria Gonzalez Angel , a Sanluqueno, who founded what would later go on to become Gonzalez Byass in 1835.  Gonzalez’ love of family and in particular the love of his Uncle Pepe inspired him to persevere and create the world famous brand we all know today.

I’ll be honest Sherry was not a big hit with my family because it has such a unique taste. But everyone agreed that Sherry would be a great base for Brandy, as it is often used, and also make a great base in many beautiful food dishes. Nonetheless, we enjoyed the experience of hearing about the love that inspired the creation of one of the most famous brands in the world. Check out all of our photos below!
